
Testimony Wars
Cast: 2 people, either gender. Written for high-schoolers, but could be adapted for any age. The pronouns are female, but there are no gender-specific lines.
Both: This is my testimony.
1: I did a lot of bad stuff before Jesus found me.
2: I had as impressive a redemption story as you can imagine.
1: I drank.
2: I smoked.
1: I did drugs.
2: I stole things.
1: I robbed a bank.
2: I killed somebody. (beat) Almost.
1: I spent some time in jail.
2: A week.
1: A month.
2: A year!
1: Two years!
2: But the amount of time doesn’t really matter, because it’s what happened there that’s important.
1: But it was still a long time. (2 glares)
2: Then I got out.
1: I went to a camp.
2: Where I heard about Jesus.
1: When they asked if anyone wanted to become a Christian, I raised my hand.
2: I stood up.
1: I jumped up and down.
2: I was crying.
1: Everyone around me was crying.
2: The speaker was crying.
Both: When I shared my story.
1: That night I accepted Jesus.
2: And it changed my life.
1: For a while.
2: Then I started drinking and doing drugs again.
1: I robbed another bank.
2: I got into car accidents.
1: With a bus.
2: With a train.
1: With an airplane!
2: With an aircraft carrier in drydock!
1: With a spaceship! (pause) Which was on the ground, while I was driving near NASA.
2: And I broke my arm.
1: I broke my leg.
2: I broke my collarbone.
1: I broke my neck.
2: I passed out.
1: I was unconscious for days.
2: I was in ICU for months.
1: I was in a coma.
2: I died! (beat) Almost.
Both: But, thanks to God, I recovered.
1: And I rededicated my life to Him.
2: But I wasn’t really living for Him.
1: I still drank sometimes.
2: I still sold drugs.
1: I robbed another bank.
2: I ran over a squirrel. (awkward silence)
Both: Then I went on a missions trip.
2: To Mexico.
1: To Haiti.
2: To Uganda,
1: To India.
2: North Korea! I went on a missions trip to North Korea!
1: I went to Mars! (2 looks at her) … which is a city. In China. I went to Mars, China.
Both: And God changed my life. Again.
1: I realized I was living wrongly.
2: Really wrongly.
1: Super wrongly.
2: (speaking to 1) More wrongly than you can imagine!
1: (speaking to 2) Yeah, right!
2: (Their volume is increasing, the rest of the scene is directed to each other) I confessed all my sins.
1: In front of everybody on the trip.
2: They all prayed for me.
1: They all cried with me.
Both: It was a very moving experience!
2: And since then, I’ve been going to church!
1: I joined the leadership council!
2: I read my Bible daily!
1: I pray all the time!
2: I pray for everyone around me!
1: I talk about Jesus to everyone I know!
2: I’ve healed people through faith!
1: I’ve cast out demons!
2: God’s doing wonderful things in my life!
1: But he’s doing more wonderful things in mine!
2: I don’t think so!
Both: (to audience) And I LOVE Jesus!!!! (They turn and exit)
